Our Dedicated Doctors

Dr. Rebecca McGovern

Veterinarian

Dr. Rebecca McGovern was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2008, she received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from LSU. After a couple of years, she then traveled abroad and started her veterinary studies in Perth, Western Australia.

After living there for 2.5 years, she received another degree in Veterinary Science in 2013. Dr. McGovern finished her veterinary studies at Mississippi State University and received her DVM in 2017.

Her interests include forensic and internal medicine. She has lived in Indianapolis since 2018, residing with her significant other and their two Labradors, Casper and Oreo.

She enjoys reading psychological thrillers and true crime novels (her favorite author is Stephen King). In her free time, she likes to travel and binge-watch TV shows, including medical and forensic dramas.

Dr. Christal Morita-Keating

Veterinarian

Dr. Christal Morita-Keating was born in Indianapolis and grew up in Ohio, Tennessee, and Mississippi before returning to Dayton, Ohio and graduating from Wright State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology including Honors Research. While studying at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, she was a active member of various professional extracurricular activities, including the On-Call Companion (dog and cat) and Large Animal Surgical Teams; Cow Milking Team; Large Animal Dystocia Team (providing assistance or C-sections for large farm animals during birthing); and serving as both Treasurer, and later President of the Theriogenology (Animal Reproduction) Club.

After graduating from The Ohio State University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2011, Dr. Keating worked as a full-time veterinarian over the next four years in veterinary hospitals across Ohio, Georgia, and Indiana. During that time, she took on the role of Chief of Staff and also frequently provided coverage for other doctors as a Relief Veterinarian to five other group-owned clinics over Indiana and Ohio. Dr. Keating was honored to be one of only several dozen veterinarians nationwide selected for a week-long intensive communication training that fully prepared her to train other veterinarians and team members on how to better communicate within their team as well as with pet owners for better patient outcomes.

From 2015 to 2024, Dr. Keating proudly started, owned and operated her own veterinary clinic in New Palestine. Her extensive experience in various veterinary settings and leadership roles have given her a deep understanding and appreciation of veterinary medicine and the medical teams that make it possible.

Dr. Keating’s specific areas of interest include canine and feline dentistry, behavior, surgery, skin and ear disease (dermatology), internal medicine, ophthalmology and surgery. She finds the most satisfaction in helping pets with long-term, unmanaged diseases find relief.

Just as eager to constantly learn when at home as while she is at work, Dr. Keating enjoys an extensive variety of hobbies, including gardening, painting, crafting, and sewing. She once sewed and created her own Queen Amidala (Star Wars) kimono costume and headdress and cosplays at comic conventions and events.

Other hobbies include ballroom dancing, learning Japanese, and reading (mostly non-fiction like forensic and behavioral sciences, Japanese history and culture, botany, and about unique cases of rare human medical diseases). The proud daughter of a retired United States Air Force pilot, Dr. Keating loves flying and even took private piloting license lessons at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Aero Club while in high school.

Dr. Keating and Jake are devoted pet parents to two adorable girls: “Elizabeth Lemon”, a very spirited and forever-hungry Beagle/Bulldog mix, and “Claire”, a gentle and sensitive Great Dane. Having owned four Great Danes so far, Dr. Keating is sometimes known as the “Great Dane Doctor”, and has a special knack for caring for giant breed dogs. She’s also a huge guinea pig enthusiast and has even bred and owned up to nine of these delightful creatures at once.
